Cavachon Puppies and Cavachon Breeders near me. How to pick.
Puppy or Breeder : Which Comes First?
The old adage of “Don’t put the cart before the horse” still rings true today, especially when you are looking for Cavachon Puppies for sale near me. In your case, “Don’t make selecting the Cavachon Puppies for sale near me more important than selecting the correct breeder from the Cavachon Breeders near me” when navigating your upcoming adoption.
Put yourself in the following scenario. You are going to adopt a new puppy! Internet search begins: you type in “cute puppies for sale”. Picture after picture of adorable puppies instantly at your fingertips! Then, just like that, you have found “The One!” It is love at first sight! Congratulations! BUT WAIT… who is the breeder and where does this puppy come from? Is this puppy real? Are you about to be scammed? How do you know that the puppy you are now in love with is real, not to mention healthy, happy, socialized, residing in a loving and ethical environment? At this point, you don’t.
Picking a puppy before you thoroughly vet and select a quality breeder can result in being scammed, or even worse, heartbreaking disappointment, a life time of health concerns, costly vet bills, undue emotional stress, and often premature death of the selected dog.
How do you find the right breeder to ensure a successful adoption and happy and healthy future? First, research breeders who specialize in breeding the kind of puppy that you want. Spend time looking at their social media and website. Be respectful and know your budget. Do not contact breeders who are out of this budget and try to negotiate lower pricing. Quality puppies are rarely haggled over. Narrow down your list of possible breeders to a handful, reach out to these few, and set up appointments where you can personally talk with the actual breeder.
In preparation for these discussions, you need to make a list of your priorities when selecting your puppy. Some things to consider are:
Quality
Health
Structure
Markings
Intelligence
Trainability
Location
Age
Nutrition
Ethical breeding
Health Guarantee
Your relationship with your breeder
Cost
Contract
Once your priorities are ordered, break them down even further. List questions that you need answered to ensure the breeder fulfills your requirements.
For Example, questions that I would ask about Health:
What health screenings have been done on the parents?
What is your standard practices with your puppies to ensure their health?
What environment are puppies raised in? Is it sanitary?
Do you work outside of the home, and if so, who is cleaning up after, socializing, and loving the puppies while you are gone?
Who is your vet, and may I contact them and ask about their experience with you as a breeder and your dogs?
May I schedule virtual puppy play dates with you and your puppies, in order to put a face with a name, see the aptitude, appearance, health, personality of the puppies as well as see the environment which the puppies are being raised in?
A breeder is going to ask you for a considerable amount of money, you should not feel the least bit bad about asking them for 30-60 minutes of their time to ask your questions.Make sure that your breeder is kind, respectful, and is willing to earn your trust and your business. This will empower you with the information necessary to either select them and their puppy, or to say “Thanks, but no thanks” and continue your search.
Another important note to consider is a quality breeder should not be overbearing. Often times, instead of taking the time to qualify themselves and their dogs, breeders will create a false sense of urgency, “Buy now or miss out!” Do not get caught up in this sales gimmick! If they are the right breeder for you, they will inform, educate, and then allow you to decide if you are ready to move forward.
My Last, but most IMPORTANT tip! LISTEN TO YOUR GUT!
Inside of us, we have the amazing ability to experience “gut” feelings. If the breeders you interview give all the right answers, but something in your gut leaves you questioning, follow your gut and keep looking. However, on the flip side, if all of your boxes have been checked, you feel happy, peaceful, confident, and your gut is also onboard, you have your answer. Your hard work has paid off, you have found your breeder, and now it is time to pick your new puppy with confidence.
If you are looking for a breeder of a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Cavapoo or Cavachon puppy, contact us. Carlene and I are committed to take the time needed to answer all of your questions and concerns as well as partner with you towards the successful adoption of your next puppy.
Wishing you and all of your fur babies joy, health, and happiness!
